So. I have a 20-qt All Clad pot. I decided to use it to simmer corned beef and cabbage. I put the meat in, barely covered with a combo of chicken stock and water, put in my homemade pickling spice, put the lid on and set the fire. I got very involved in a project and pretty much forgot about it for several hours- but certainly thought I had enough liquid so I didn't have to worry.
Nope. I burned the bejeebers out of it. My Husband discovered it smoking away. I quickly took out the corned beef which was burned black on the bottom and was horrified at the condition of my beautiful All Clad pot. I thought it was a goner. Then I remembered a spray-bottle product I picked up a while back....Dawn Power Dissolver. Well what the heck I thought- got nothing to lose. I used almost the whole bottle of it because the pot is so big. I let it sit for about 20 minutes then went at it. I found, to my amazement, that I didn't even need to scrub too hard- all that crusty black burned-on stuff came off. My pot is once again beautiful. I imagine I will have some hot spots on it because of what it went through but it is totally usable and beautiful again. Wow. Thanks, Dawn Power Dissolver!
And I was able to salvage most of the corned beef, simmered again in broth, added cabbage, carrots, onions, potatoes- it was delicious.
