Smoked Black Pepper - has anyone tried it?

I would LOVE to try this... I wonder if anyone here can create Smoked Black Pepper~ I'm just ok at

following recipes or bringing a recipe up a notch... I have create 2 of my own recipes... but...

I wouldn't even know where to begin in creating smoked black pepper....

Any of you cooking genius's (and that's most of you) would consider trying this....

I don't know why you couldn't just pour peppercorns in a shallow pan and put them on the

cold end of a grill away from the heat and smoke them with the lid closed for a while. We could probably do kosher salt that way too.

 
I see lots of places on the web have it and one commenter on chow said he bought

some in the bulk spices at Central Market
