Smoked paprika at Cosco: good stuff. . . (more)

Last Sunday I went to Costco and bought two 8 ounce bottles of smoked paprika. McCormick is the brand.

Day before yesterday I made this recipe:

3-28 ounce cans Ranch Style Beans (do NOT drain)

1lb lean hamburger

two rounded teaspoons cumin seed, toasted and ground while hot

1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic

1 rounded tablespoon chile powder

Brown burger, do not drain. Add garlic, cumin, and chile powder and stir briefly with the meat. Pour in beans and stir thoroughly. Simmer 20 minutes. Serve hot with grated medium cheddar cheese and onions and crackers if you wish.

To the above recipe I added a rounded tablespoon of the smoked paprika when I added the chile powder.

This stuff was so good, there is none left today, which is pretty unusual.

You might want to try the smoked paprika; for the price the taste is pretty dang good.

Interesting. Seems McCormick bought Ducros (my favourite French everyday spices) a year

or 2 ago. Is is my imagination, or is McCormick improved recently?

Sorry, lets try again: I have had reg. McCormic Costco Paprika and the smoked, but . . .

both of those were good, very good.

BUT I purchased some mild curry powder in a local grocery store and it was the absolute worst stuff I have every had. It ruined a batch of fish curry I attempted with it. Yech! Had no flavor except nasty turmeric--no cinnamon, cloves, nothin'. And when I called McCormick to complain the woman I talked to kinda blew me off. And this curry was really nasty-flavorless.
