So Cute! Creative Vegetables

Could be - they are really cute. I never have enough time to do fun things like these when

I have folks over - maybe I will do some of these for a scouting activity.

Funny,

I was thinking this same thing, other than I have some young cubs (the older ones have moved on to scouts) so knives are a bit of a no-no for a bit.
The other one pertaining to here is a carrot slashed as a palm tree and a green pepper zig-zagged and set on top as the leaves.
What would the eyes be ...I haven't seen any plastic ones in the stores here...OH for a Marshalls or Jo-annes or something.

I always garnish my shared dishes with radish mice.... easy to make a bunch in a few min.

This site has the basic directions and pic:

I have never left the green part on (doesn't look much like a nose to me)... instead, I begin the slice just above that and slice on an angle so the little mouse tail is sticking up in the air. 2 cloves for the eyes, and 2 slits for the ears like the pic shows. Really fast and easy and everyone goes crazy over them. No one will eat them, they all want to take it home.

dawn, do you know if these are from a calendar? i saw a great one, all dogs, exact same style. it

was a french calendar i think...would love to track it down if anyone is familiar with it!

These pictures are from books by Joost Elffers. His first book

was Play with Your Food which gives some suggestions for creating your own creatures from fruits and vegetables. The sheep and frogs are from Food for Thought. The dog calendar illustrations were probably from Dog Food. Elffers books are available on Amazon.com. I bought the first for myself and the latter two and How Are You Peeling? for my grandchildren, but I decided that they must be kept at my house so they'll have something to read here. That sounds like a reasonable excuse for not giving them up, doesn't it?

I am sure these are from a calendar - note the little hole on top of each picture. Sent to me as

an email attachment, so I am not sure who makes it.
