So I finished my chicken stew and started the beef last night...

and then sat down to rest The Cankle and have a glass of wine and a bit of 4505 Meats truffled pork butter (butter, confit of pork, chopped truffles - heaven).

I forgot the burner for the stew was on medium high.

Some indeterminate time later, I smelled something burning, it was the stew. I realized the bottom was completely burned and the stew tasted smokey and burnt. Groovy!

I poured off the top part into a bowl to store in the fridge but am not sure it's really edible. Le sigh....

I hate it when that happens! I totally sympathize. I bet the stew will still be OK

A little smokiness never hurt anything.

Oh Joe, (slaps forehead) where has my brain gone?

I did have a spoonful and it's like I added a LOT of smoked bacon to it. I'll decide when I warm it up for dinner.

Cracks me up though, what a rookie move.

I'm with you. A few Christmases ago I made baked potato soup. It's heavy...

...with cream and cheese, etc. I put some on a low flame to heat it up for dinner.

A few minutes later, someone suggested we pile into a couple of cars and go see some really neat Christmas lights a couple of neighborhoods over. SURE!

Forgot to turn off the soup. We got back about an hour later. Totally burned the soup, but didn't set the kitchen on fire, thankfully. The soup was inedible.

I coulda' cried...

Michael

Yep, grilled Santa Fe Beef Cocido with chipote and lime. It's all in the marketing.
