...two days. The chocolate on the top bloomed, so now it looks like they're a month old.

They taste great, but look awful.

Guess we're going to eat this batch.

That's a great idea, except...

...the teenagers in the house devoured all of them in a 2 1/2 hour span. Said they were celebrating the end of "finals". At least they waited for the green light.

Well, that's one happy solution.

Perhaps you heated the chocolate too high? That can cause the fat to exude as it cools.

 
The recipe calls for shortening to be added to the chocolate as it melts. Perhaps...

...I could just leave out the shortening next time.
