So re above Le Creuset or other oven, what size/shape do you like best?

I was going to ask this before Paul posted the deal above. Of course it's just me, so it's not about how many it feeds, but best size to fit things in. When I called the Le Creuset store just now they said if this is your first, and you want an oval, go for the 6 3/4 (they don't have a 5.5, just 5qt), but I forgot to ask about round vs oval - and I would want to bake bread in it.

Thoughts?

I have a round Le Creuset and love it. I mostly cook soups and stews but I think if I had to do it

again I would get an oval one. My daughter has an oval and it is much easier to fit something like a whole chicken or a longer roast to braise in it. Still does the soups and stews too.

I like the round. I have a red Creuset, 3 1/2 quarts, & it's the perfect size for No-Knead Bread. I

don't use it for anything else.

LeCreuset

I have both the round and oval shaped, both betw. 6-7 qt size. If you are going with just one shape, I'd go with the round, however , I use both a lot. Oval for roasts and chicken, round for everything else including bread, chili, stews, soups, etc.

I have two both round and love them both

My first was the classic red Dutch oven style about 6qts that was made for QVC many years ago by Staub.

Then they opened a Le Creuset store here (closed now) and I made friends with the manager and because I was in culinary school and doing charity events and such, I got the trade discount so I splurged on the Caribbean blue and I thought it was called a risotto pot but I can't find that and it looks kind of like the Signature Round French Oven - difference being that the sides gently round into the bottom rather than being the sharp 90 degree angle of a Dutch oven. I love it because it is easy to stir sauces and such because they can't get in that corner at the 90 degree joint. This is a larger pan, closer to 8 qts.

I use them both so much that I pretty much just wash and put back on the stove ready to go - instead of keeping a table set, I keep the stove set.

I have a round pumpkin Staub that I love, and makes for nice presentation. thanks to Sandi in Ha---

miss her!
