So, should I go to dinner tonight at the Cordon Blue? Martin Yan is speaking & doing a demo.

It was nice to be invited, a blogger event, but these food allergies are something else. So far wine, chocolate, cheese, meat and potatoes are okay.

I tried an egg this morning and got a medium reactio to the yolk and a very strong reaction to the egg white. So sad, I love my poached eggs.

Anyway, I may not be able to each much but I could enjoy the demo and perhaps a glass of wine or five.

What do you all think?

Between wine chocolate and cheese you can eat -- I say go!

Plus they normally have so many choices there I'm sure you should be able to not leave hungry.

Thank you, I appreciate your encouragement.

It's better to be out and about instead of sulking at home, right?

WINE here I come - LOL

I will tell you what happens, so curious to see WHY they are having this event.

The event is probably because Yan

CAN cook! and you, CAN eat wine!

Have a great time Heather and please do fill us in about your evening.

I did not go after all, because a dear friend called me, she was in town

and her dinner date cancelled. She just had surgery for breast cancer, the first of my peer circle to have it - it's shocking. Anyway, I was delighted to get to spend some time with her so we had lots of lovely wine and I had potatoes and cheese for dinner. Burrata makes everything good, right? Happily she's doing really well and starts radiation therapy soon. Has anyone done that, what are the side effects?

I bet your friend really appreciated your change of plans. Besides,

Yan CAN wait for your appearance at his next gig.

I'm glad you had a good time with your friend.

I helped out my best friend Eileen (since high school) go through breast cancer treatment by driving her to the hospital for treatments/checkups and occasionally picked up her groceries, etc. while her live-in boyfriend went to work.

Do the best you can from afar for her as she'll need all the support you can muster.

Good luck with your friend Heather.

NFRC - These kinds of things make me wish I could afford a car

she lives across the bay but it's not easy to get to her via public transit. Close and yet so far! I was encouraging her to be sure to eat well and rest a lot during her treatment and use aloe or shae butter on her skin. I imagine the radation makes one tired and possibly anemic?

Hope Eileen is doing well!

Thanks Heather but

sadly, Eileen didn't make it after having a lumpectomy. She was "clean" for about year, but it came back. She passed at age 38. That was 18 years ago for me. I truly believe she would have had a better chance if she had a mastectomy or a double one. Back in those days, I think docs were a bit too optimistic with lumpectomy procedures... However, I'm sure that better treatment is available these days with groundbreaking new technology.

Just try to do the best you can for her as I know you will.

Good luck with your friend Heather.

Oh no...

I am so sorry to hear that. Cancer sucks, so many lovely people have died. I just hope every day that my Auntie B and my mom keep getting clean results. Ladies, we all need to get our mammograms.

Vancouver (Canada) has the car2go - rented by the minute! Cheap and my DD uses it all the time!

You can pick it up within walking distance of where you are, drive 10 min., and drop it wherever you are. Costs very little so convenient... plus, you don't pay for gas or auto insurance.
