I used natural (but salted) P.B. (made in MI. Barbara Kingsolver's "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" has changed my life) and needed to add 1.5 cups sugar. Also added an extra egg yolk (I've gotten into the habit of doing this to many cake recipes).

Hubby is away for the night on a fishing trip w/ his bro and 84 year old father - it will be waiting for him upon his return. I'll report back then (because I am going to try to hold off tasting it (cooked that is - you can bet I ate some of the batter) until tomorrow night.

So, in other words, you reduced the sugar by 1/4 cup? Can't wait to hear the results.

Yes, you are correct

I can see how I wrote it was misleading.

So - we dug into the brownies last night - DH did not go away - he came home from work sick yesterday. He was much better by evening (enough so that he could try the brownies.

Here's the verdict: DH did not care for them, nor did I. Not because they weren't good - they just weren't our thing. (as I write this I realize that I don't care for blondies either). That being said - our neighbors went wild for them. So much so that one neighbors' husband was mad because the wife ate the bigger portion of the brownie and when I offered to send down more she said 'no' because they were watching their weight. Her DH was so irritated when he found out he had her call me back and ask if she could come over and get some more:)

So I'm assuming that they are pretty darn delicious - DH and I are just jaded:)

I'm not wild about blondies either, but I was wondering if the addition of peanut butter would make

a difference, plus the ganache topping. Too bad you and your husband didn't like them, but it's great that your neighbors did!
