So when did 5 lb bags of sugar become 4 lbs...and higher priced?!

Gotta be at least 6 years now. I did see a 5lb bag at Walmart not long ago, but I prefer pure cane sugar.

It really irked me when I saw it.....

"Half-gallon" ice cream is now 1.5 quarts.

"1 lb" bag of coffee is now 12 oz.

"12 oz" bag of chocolate chips is now 10 oz.

"8 oz" carton of yogurt is now 6 and sometimes 4 oz.

"Flat" of strawberries used to be 8 quarts. Now it's somewhere between 3-4 here in FL.

Irks me too. I started buying the 10 lb bag at a slightly better price than the 4lb. I bake a lot.

The store I shop at has "cents per unit" on most of the price labels found...

...on the shelf edges. That's the only way to compare store specials to other regularly priced items, prices between brands or prices between differing sizes.

It's not fun.
