Some yummy looking Indian recipes here at this blog I just discovered...

Speaking of Indian, I bought a big bag of Atta flour to make roti (a complete failure). Can I use

this flour as a one-for-one substitute for regular whole wheat flour?

Here's what Answer says about it's composition:
Atta flour uses the germ and the endosperm, but not the bran. Bran fibre is insoluble, so atta flour is a much lighter more easily digested flour.

So, will it affect how a whole wheat bread recipe would turn out, other than having lower fiber?

No it wasn't tough but is certainly more dense than a store-bought

soft tortilla. I followed the directions:

"- - - 1. Sieve both the flours. Add 1tbsp butter, salt and sufficient warm water to make a pliable dough."

Also, and just like making tortillas, you should warm them on each side in a dry fry pan on medium heat just enough to make them pliable and eat at once.
