Somethings wrong with this recipe

I don't think you can correct your mistake with the recipe by just adding butter--

it needed to be creamed, then beaten with the eggs, etc., following the directions of the recipe.

Possibly, but you have more issues that just the top lattice. The bottom will

also be missing half the butter, so it will not be as "short" as it should be.

I'd be tempted to just scrap it, but with all those almonds, here's what I'd do: scrap the jam filling in a bowl (doesn't matter if some dough sticks...it will all get baked anyway. Then melt another stick of butter and mix it in with ALL of the dough. Then chill the dough slightly to refirm the butter and start the process again.

It won't be exactly the same because, as Charley notes, the butter isn't creamed into the sugar. But you've already broken down the sugar with the first half of the butter and linzer torte is such a lovely taste, so I'd go for it.

Guests enjoyed it none the less. It had a rather rustic look as the lattice was rather thick

I was having a very "hoity toity" dinner for a fund raiser for a church building one time.

Appies, entrees, veggies, etc. were ALL terrific. I do not do desserts well or often and had made what should have been no fail chocolate chip bars. Well they were underdone, uncuttable, etc. Ran to the bakery and bought some "stuff" and said I had a failure, etc. To a person, they all came to the kitchen, got spoons and put that on their ice cream!! LOL
