if they weren't fried, I would make them! I hate frying things at home.

at other people's homes I have no compunction. LOL

 
If you use a deep enough pot, the oil will not splatter all over. I hate to fry too and dislike

braising meats prior to braising because it makes such a mess. I keep looking at those slow cookers with the insert that can be used on the stove for browning. Anyone have any experience or knowledge on how well they work?

 
omg. All the good stuff! We seldom have mashed (or any) potatoes

these days, and don't fry often, but I WILL be trying these!!!

My little roost has the stove in the back of the kitchen and the only ventilation is the window

12 feet away, so every food scent goes through my apartment and for some magical reason my walk in closet harbors all the cooking scents. So, therefore, I never deep fry anything and I've stopped pan frying fish. Oh, city living! But I will make this at a friend's house! hahaha!!!
