Sort of Food Related - Going to Austin this week on business - any recommendations?...

will be staying out in the Round Rock area but I am adventurous and want to try the best Austin has to offer. Have three nights to try things unless someone from the company steps in and offers to take me out or something which would be nice but I love a good adventure and most of the time they take you to the most horrible chains.

The Salt Lick is VERY Austin... way out in the country down a long winding road...

Drive out 290 West, halfway to Dripping Springs and take the Driftwood exit. Its about ten minutes past there on the left. Long way but definitely worth it.

Wear your boots and hat - loud band and good fun.

Last time there I went to the gospel Sunday brunch at Threadgills....

Good southern food - prized for their chicken fried steak.

Actually, one of the best 'gourmet' meals I had was a The Herb Farm.

It's out in Fredricksburg, in the gorgeous Hill Country - 1-1/2 hours due west from Austin. Fabulous place, and they have their own spa so you can get a massage and lunch package. Beautiful setting.

Next trip in April, I plan to try the Hula Hut - have heard good things about it.

It's on Lake Austin and food is supposed to be very good.
