Sorta FRC: Anyone been to Bar Harbor, Maine? More precisely, to the Jordan Pond House Restaurant?

We go to Bar Harbor every year for vacation. It's our favorite

We go to the Jordan Pond house for tea and popovers on the lawn whenever we are there. The setting is gorgeous. We have eaten dinner at the restaurant once or twice. It's just okay. Nothing special.

Thanks! I saw one old thread where you mentioned the restaurant. smileys/smile.gif

I'm trying to write a story set there (despite having never been). Do you know how long a drive it is from, say, Main Street in Bar Harbor (close to the piers or the shore walk) out to the restaurant and the park?

Can I ask what makes it your favorite spot? Any particular feel, or thing, etc?

I appreciate whatever you have time to describe; thank you! smileys/smile.gif

It takes about 15 or 20 minutes to drive from downtown Bar Harbor

to the Jordan Pond House. It is located in Acadia National Park and the setting is gorgeous. As I said, we always go for tea on the lawn, and from there you have a view of Jordan Pond and the Bubble Mountains in the distance. We try to go in mid August when the wild blueberries are in season. There is a patch next to the lawn, and it's fun to pick some and pop them into your mouth.

You ask why we like to go here. We have been visiting Bar Harbor, Acadia Park and the surrounding villages for the past 25 years. There is something for everyone here. When our boys were younger, we went canoeing, they did wind surfing, horseback riding, and of course, lots of hiking. Now, we enjoy just visiting our favorite haunts in the park, and the towns of Somesville, Northeast Harbor, Southwest Harbor and Bass Harbor. We also enjoy eating lobster every day, and there are some terrific restaurants also. We have pictures of the area, and I would be glad to send some if you like. And some time you should really try to go see for yourself!

Thank you for the details!

And thanks for the kind offer of photos--I think I'm managing to find most of what I need online. I hate to think of having you go to the trouble to send any, but thanks very much for the offer. smileys/smile.gif

Now I just have 3500 words to crank out. smileys/wink.gif It does sound lovely--I have a friend who's up there seasonally, and I'm lobbying for us to go up and visit her this summer!

Thanks so much again--
Erin
