Speaking of Greek Yogurt - Chobani Recalls Greek Yogurt

I'm going back to regular creamy yogurt. finding the Greek all too "stiff" for my liking.

I've never tried Greek yogurt. I buy my favorite brand of regular lowfat organic yogurt - nice and

creamy.

The only Greek yogurt I've tried is Ben & Jerry's frozen, which is a whole different story. Great stuff. So far, I've tried the vanilla with blueberry and graham cracker swirl and a lemon one with blueberry swirl.

I agree with Fage. Even the 0-fat version is good. I also like Greek Gods Honey

Disclaimers complain that it isn't "real" Greek yogurt, but I really like the taste. Calorie-wise, though...it's a biggie.

My pet peeve is the additions to make it thick...

... most brands, even the high-end, organic, blessed by godesses, and made from milk collected from happy cows contain pectin or other thickeners.

I always buy the ones that contain exclusively milk - I think Danon is one, and also Fage.

Whenever I need "greek" yogurt, I just put my favorite plain yogurt in my cone coffee...

....drip thingie and let it drain overnight in the fridge.

I get a lovely greek-style, thick, cheesy yogurt. If it is too thick, I just add a bit of the drained liquid back and stir it in until it is to my liking.

Fage id very good, but for good taste and good price, you can't beat the Costco brand.

Always have it in my fridge. Even though it's fat free it tastes very good, and makes the best breakfast with fruit. But I was so very, very thrilled to find Chobani passion fruit yoghurt. I buy several cups every week for breakfast or lunch in spite of the price. It was always the first thing I bought when I went back to South Africa because I missed it so much.

I use a white paper towel in a large mesh strainer,

dump the yogurt in - save the container - cover the top of the strainer with a glass plate and drain overnight on the top shelf in our fridge. The yogurt flops off of the paper towel right back into the original container. Yum. We like the big Dannon full fat. I top with a very small squirt of agave syrup and a grind of cinnamon. Colleen

This is what I do with regular. Only I finally realized to place the double paper towel on the top

of the container, hold my hand over it and turn it into the strainer (rather than line the strainer and scoop out the yogurt.). Then I cut an X in the bottom of the container to break the vacuum seal and 99% of the yogurt slides right out.
