Speaking of KA mixers, I was using mine and heard a "chink" sound.

Cleaning up, I found a 1/4" dia by 1/4"-3/8" long threaded screw, flat head slot, but no actual head. The screw looks like it can go either way.

The thing is...I thought it came out of my KA but I never found an empty hole, a missing screw, a void.

That screw has been sitting on my window seal for 2 years. KA runs fine.

Anyone ever see a screw like that???

 
Sounds like a "set screw" for the spindle. My mixer is 19 years old and I see...

...places where set screws are placed around the spindle.

Mine is about 25 years - I found a great video on YouTube for repairing it yourself
