Stupid question- Is my Cuisinart work bowl dishwasher safe?

Obviously it would only be on the top rack- but I have never done it before so I don't want to take any chances-- Where is that pesky owners manual that I saw only 10 long years ago!!?????

Well, my old one certainly is, however, the dishwasher can cause the plastic

to look a little cloudy.

I have always put my 30 year old cuisinart bowl in the dishwasher. But like Curious said, it does

become cloudy. About 4 years ago it cracked and I had to replace it (got a good deal on ebay). I still put it in the dishwasher but often pull it out before it goes through the drying cycle.

I don't put mine in the dishwasher

Mostly because my menfolk don't load it very nicely and it gets banged around pretty badly. Their philosophy is to shove it all in, who cares if it gets clean because whomever unloads it (ahem...me) will rewash what is still dirty.

If I had mine to start all over with, I would not put it in. The plastic dries out faster with the

harsh detergent and it cracks more easily. Also, I think in the drying out process, it fits back onto the base less easily.

I put mine in the dishwasher, Tammy

Everybody is right- it can get brittle, it can get cloudy, it can warp if the water is too hot so the work bowl doesn't fit as well, but I pull mine out before the drying cycle like Pat does and it stays in great condition.

I used to think that until I did a bit more checking....

and found out they've slightly tweaked the design since mine was made. I would have to buy a new bowl and two new pieces for the top, which by that point = $100 for parts + S&H. The only thing I wouldn't have to replace would be the motor base.

So I'm back to handwashing it and taking care not to crack off the cracked handle.

That does change things. You must have been kinder to your motor than I. I burned out my first one

long before the plastic could crack.
