Subliminal suggestion? Positive visualization? Eco-consciousness?

Here's the story.

I have a narrow bathroom with a basket full of magazines. Bon Appetit December 2006 had a feature on Dorie Greenspan and this image was front and center for about a month

(see first link for "Peanut Butter and Fudge Brownies with Salted Peanuts" recipe).

Now visualize staring at this picture every morning and every night...day after day after day.

My friends, I'm here to tell you that I baked at least 6 different brownie recipes that month. And gained 8 lbs. Good, solid Callebaut pounds.

THEN, I was reading Bon Appetit January 2007 and got around to a feature article called "Hold The Lettuce".

Folder over and stuck in the basket, this image http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g166/Finer_Kitchens/BAsalad.jpg

stared at me for the next two months (see following post for Bon Appetit's Artichoke, Fennel and Crispy Prosciutto Salad recipe). And now...truthfully...I can't get enough salads these days. I crave one either for lunch or for dinner...and sometimes for both.

And I've lost 6 pounds so far.

So the big question is...did I just get tired of brownies? Or should I staple this salad picture to my forehead for the next 6 months?

ditto on hold the staples. get one of those hats with an extension rod to clip the picture to. like

the rabbit for the racing dogs. then you can look at it all day long.
