Sunday Six

I rolled my sleeves up and made a couple of batches of sugar cookie dough for Christmas cookies. Sometime I'll have to make lime meltaways again - those are my absolute favorites, except for maybe spritz butter cookies. And then there are frosted butter cookies, and bird's nests - oh, they're all my favorites. I'm limiting myself to 2 cookies a day... after an evening walk.

Got the "ingredients" to make some of those adorable Christmas mice too. Four dozen ought to do it! Maybe I'm being optimistic, because I think they are labor-intensive...

Dug out from the snow and with actual MELTing, we were able to clear away the ice from the sidewalk... before the next storm. Not that I'm complaining - I love the snow and cold. It felt good too, to get out there after being cooped up for so long.

Went through Lights on the Lake - a 2-mile display of Christmas lights that you drive through at a local park. Pretty, and something we look forward to every year. It's alongside of a lake, although you wouldn't know it today...

Tonight's dinner was beef and potato pasties with added-mustard crust - kind of a dry run for a casual dinner party next week. Informal version of beef wellington ;o)

I wonder if my parsley survived under all that snow... I forgot to bring it in last week.

Weekend six

We finalized our xmas day dinner. Our annual Mexican fiesta.

Went to a Pure Romance party yesterday. I didn't know what it was about. I hate those parties; "let's play a game to break the ice". Acckkk, break a neck sounds like more fun.

Did some xmas shopping and got a good start on it.

We got a sprinkling of snow. This winter is starting out way better than last year.

I am going to make a pot of chicken soup today.

I bought a down vest on clearance this weekend; love it!

Me too, and I avoid them like the plague, usually. But this time

I knew it was really important to her, so I made an exception. The good thing was that I am sick, so I was able to make an early escape.

Weekend Six

Bookclub Holiday party on Saturday. fun and laughter and I gave bags of Toffee square cookies and holiday bark with a little mouse chocolate sitting on top of the stack of cookies. very fun. My book exchange book is a cookbook of Historic Hotels across America. Can't remember the exact name, but there are recipes from the Wort in Jackson Hole and Hotel Del Coronada etc etc. I was pleased.

My tree is up with brand spanking new lights. I got tired of trying to find the bad light that made the string not work, so off to Home Depot for some new Martha Stewart lights. The blue on the colored string is very bright and stands out too much, but it's up and I'm not changing anything now.

Made 2 more batches of holiday bark and packaged it up for the remote radar site guys/gals. 15 bags worth. I had just enough for 2 tubs for the garbage guys and for the mailman, along with toffee squares and some brownie bites with Reeses.

Pretty much finished my Christmas shopping. Our Nordstroms was crazy busy on Saturday. No recession in sight through those doors. the cafe was too darn busy for me to treat myself to lunch. bah humbug. but, I got my Lancome eyebrow stuff, and then I hi-tailed it out of there.

had biscuits and gravy made with venison sausage with good friends. Nice Sunday brunch and they gave us some venison kielbassa. this would be Montana venison since we don't have deer this far north.

My xmas package piles are about ready for boxes. must get those out tomorrow!

PS, those darn fragile mouse ears made of sliced almonds break so easily. most of my mice ended up being voles or lemmings---w/o big ears.

well, I could say that their poor broken off little ears were due to frostbite--below zero this week

Ok, my interest is piqued: what's a "Pure Romance" party?

...Since my version of "pure romance", from October through March, involves a lot of hot tea and many layers of flannel, I'm guessing I'm way off... smileys/wink.gif
