Survey: Has anyone tried any legume (bean) based pastas?

This is an interesting trend. My last trip to the local health food store, I saw bean based pastas

I remember thinking "oh gads, what next." But after reading the article, it may be worth a try. With regular pasta it is so easy to throw together some interesting combinations and it usually comes out well. With the bean based pasta, it may take some intensive experimentation to get the cooking just right, so the pasta does not get mushy (I've never had mushy pasta) and to pair the bean type with the correct flavors of the sauce. Fun, fun!

Yes. Costco brought in Edamame Pasta for a while here

I liked it. The most interesting thing is that it held together really well and did not dissolve or fall apart when cooked.

Because it is Edamame it tastes like Edamame so trying to use it to replace regular pasta does not give the same result. I found it to be a completely different "animal" and when treated that way it was pretty good. Unfortunately Costco stopped bringing it to Kauai so I haven't seen it for about 6 months. If they brought it back I would buy it again. The brand they brought in was made in China and the ingredients were ONLY Edamame and water.

I ordered edamame pasta from amazon, a friend of mine (more)

a blogger from England said she really liked it.

will let you know once I try it

FoodTV (The Kitchen) praised the chickpea pasta, but reviews on amazon are pretty mixed, some people said it is disgusting smileys/wink.gif
