Sweet Pickle Pepper

I bought this plant at the Farmer's Market today and the grower told me it was edible. One site I visited commented that it was an ornamental and not suggested for eating? Has anyone had experience with this papper plant and why would not edible be suggested? Other sites said it was edible, however but still called it an ornamental.http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/166846/

Hi Karen...

I googled it and it certainly appears to be edible. Many people commented on it being sweet and especially good when it is fully ripened. It sounds like a mini orange bell pepper, not the shape, but the flavor. The only thing I can think of is maybe some of the ornamental peppers are too hot for a lot of people. It certainly is a pretty plant. I read that it can be grown in a pot or container too. Good luck!

The grower at the Farmer's Market told me they were sweet, not hot.....

it is a pretty plant. She had one there with pepppers on it already, but I chose a smaller one with flowers only. I love to watch the process!

I lucked out today...

I went to grocery store today for some shopping and they had all their vegetable and herbs on clearance, 6-packs 2-$1, herbs 6-$2 and 4-inch pots 3-$1. I got some cool heirloom tomatoes, Mr. Stripey and a Belgium Giant, a six pack each of Jet Star and Roma tomatoes; habeneros, jalapenos, ancho, cayenne, serranos, sweet bell peppers, sweet balls, and the herbs are wonderful, tarragon, rosemary, sage, parsley, basil, thyme, lemon thyme, chives, oregano, marjoram and the one that tastes like cucumber, who's name aludes me right now. My whole herb and vegetable garden for around $20. I so lucked out! I had already planted some seeds and they are coming up now too. I love this time of year! Now the fun part, planting them.
Check back and let us know the flavor of your little peppers, it will be interesting to find out how they taste.
edited to say the other herb was borage.
