I took all the ingredients except the green onions, egg, and mushrooms and made a marinade for Sirloin Strip steaks (pierce the steaks with a knife point several times, place in a bag with marinade and force out the air, massage from time to time to work the marniade in--I also added a splash of mirin, freshly ground white pepper, and minced garlic). Marinate mushrooms with a little of the marinade and a splash of peanut oil in a separate bag.

I made the Garlic Sauce (added more Mirin, a dash of red pepper, and tahini, which worked well as an emulsifier to bind the hoisin and the sesame oil).

Then I grilled the steaks and mushrooms, along with whole green onions. Napped the steaks with the sauce and plated the steaks with the grilled mushrooms and green onions.

Yummy! Can't wait to try it as a burger like you posted.
