Hi all,
A beloved teacher in State College died quite suddenly over the weekend, leaving her husband and two young boys. One of her friends is using the Take Them a Meal website to coordinate meals for the family. This is a website where people can sign up to bring meals for someone; it displays the name, phone number, date, and what you're bringing (so they don't get pot roast three nights in a row).
It looks like an excellent resource for folks to help out life events (such as death, birth, major illness, or surgery). I thought I'd pass the link along, as I'm sure many of us have done this sort of thing many times.
A few years ago, a dear friend developed tongue cancer and had to go through chemo treatments. His wife was almost nine months pregnant at the time, so I coordinated six weeks worth of meals for her (she cooked for her husband as he couldn't have anything but smoothies). I had a spreadsheet, but sure could have used this website. (He recovered and is doing fine, btw.)
Hope someone finds it useful.
