I can't spell chiken.

(okay, this underlines the incorrect spelling, but doesn't give me option to correct. It does give me option to add misspelled work to my dictionary. )

So now this one is using 2021 Macbook

I still can't spell chiken.

Okay, this version provides a correct spelling option.

qite amusing (yourself)... just tried in both Firefox and Chrome on my 2010 Mac Pro. Both gave suggestions for spelling. I think it is likely a browser setting on your old computer.

Everything I have and am is old. If you want me to do an oldness test, I am still here and I qualify. I don't have Mac though.

I can write chiken in and it will not be noticed. Now of course, to make a liar of me, this one was noticed. But I had dealt with it just prior in another dummy line as an error so maybe it learned.

As an initial trial, if I right-clicked on it (without it highlighting) and I told it to spell check, the options came up and I could no longer type it or anything else incorrectly without the redline.

Then I tried a new post, and created a spelling error. It was ignored. But if I created a new post after I clicked on spell check, with nothing in the subject line, any error was redlined.

So I'm thinking we just need to let it be known that we want spell check to operate ahead of a post. Maybe those of us who cannot spell chicken, could just do that prior to any discussion of that subject.

Also interesting was that I created a dummy post but did not finish it, so clicked on cancel. I could not get it to leave me. I eventually had to get out of this forum before it would disappear.

Let's see if it is still spell checking now......I like chiken but I love boeuf . so ok It also does not cope with French.

And away I go to cook a peice of turkee.
