Test Your Wine Pairing Knowledge

I got 8 out of 10, (though I cheated and looked up Tempranillo in another window)

7 of 10 right. As I'm eating some mini-cubed Muenster cheese with beer while watching

the Eagles vs Cowboys football game, I did not realize that Muenster cheese does not pair well with champagne... It does however, pair well with cheap beer! LOL

10 for 10 also and I don't know what "Munter Cheese" is either. Misspell?

My guess was they were referring to "Munster". Munster or Munster-géromé, is a strong tasting, soft cheese made mainly from milk from the Vosges, between Alsace, Lorraine and Franche-Comté in France.

The name munster may come from the little town of Munster, where, among Vosgian abbeys and monasteries, the cheese was conserved and matured in monk's cellars. It may also refer to the Latin word for monastery, monasterium.

I think I should get a 9 now with that misspelling. "Popcorn" made it a trick question anyway.

I missed the vegetable that makes wine taste sweeter

Is this a good site for looking up pairings? I find the one at winespectator.com not particularly useful. Of course, now I know I can ask the knowledgeable group here!

answering my own question

I clicked on the wine pairing link and at first got a list of links, mostly for ads! I finally found the pairing page and it looks like it might be helpful.

Steve gets a "10" just for being able to use "inimitable" in a sentence and knowing what it means!
