Thanks everyone for all your wonderful Paris suggestions - I had a wonderful time

And if you're a tea lover - I'd suggest...Mariage Freres

My friend had recommended this tea to me when I was in Paris 5 years ago... I can find 4 flavors or so at Williams-Sonoma.

But going into the tea shop --- oh my.... The smell was soooo wonderful. I wanted my house to smell like this! Why doesn't Yankee Candle make that smell?!?!?!?

We went to the one at 30 rue du Bourg-Tibourg, Paris 4e. Had a very nice tea and scones, and hen bought some tea to bring home.

Wonderful!

I like their tisanes, but they sell tea that is wrapped in silver and gold

- as in, you are supposed to drink the tea and gold drops that form in the hot tea - and I find that idea way too much over the top.

Next time you go to France, look for Kusmi Tea. It's an old Russian tea company. The owners fled to France during the revolution, and the company is now based in Paris. I love their tea and it's definitely worth a try.

Tess, so glad you had a great time, and oh yes, Mariage Freres!!!

Totally went nuts over their tea, sensual overload in the shop and all that. Still clinging to 2 small little bits of tea in my last two cansisters from my last trip to Paris.

Time to go back!
