Do you mean you can't use it through Paypal? What is the message it gives you?

If you've ever used your card through Paypal, it "remembers" it and may have associated it with the email account used for the transaction.

Didn't use paypal. it says you can charge you donation to a cc. message was unable to use this card.

Paypal will only let you use a CC a few times

before it requires you to register for an account.
It used to a maximum of 4 times, not sure if that has changed.

If you are clicking on the yellow "Donate" button on this site, it is through Paypal

and Judy-mass is correct about using a credit card that is not tied to a Paypal account. Paypal will let you use one a few times as a "guest" before wanting you to register the card with an account.
