Thanks to all of you, the cookie swap will not have any emotional baggage!

Like childhood memories of being picked last on the playing field/spelling bee/kickball game.

Not that that ever happened to me. No.

I "suggested" to my hostess that--based on the wide experience of the great bakers on this site--ALL the cookies should be evenly distributed to ALL the guests. That way, no one gets their feelings hurt if their cookies, well..suck.

I also mentioned your suggestions to avoid:

Chocolate chip

Peanut butter

Store-bought (like Walmart)

Tube-cookies (hmmm, you could wrap tube cookies up in clean tube socks...)

And she passed it all along in the e-invite. So thanks! I feel so much better about this.

MUCH better! I have found that our group really makes their favorite rec: or

they make something that they would LOVE to make, but they know that their family might not embrace. If we have one this year, I would definitely make the Almond Joy cookies posted above. dh is not a fan of coconut, and I would love to try them.

I am excited for you! What a fun way to get into the holiday spirit!

Cheezz, thoughts were that a holiday cookie swap should be a bit "more" and

chocolate chip cookies can be made any day of the year. She's hoping people will bring "family favorites" with stories behind them.

I told her I was taking my recipes either directly from this site or from one of my cookbooks. But, as I've always wanted to claim I had recipes handed down from a "great-great-great aunt/countess born in Tuscany" I could fabricate (cough, cough...lie) my way to a great story if that's what she needs for entertainment.

Now, if I could only figure out a cookie that required lobster, I could tell a real story about how my mother-in-law BURIED a live lobster out in the back yard.

My hostess makes peanut butter cookies all the times, so she ix-nay'd PB cookies.

Marilyn, you are too kind and thoughtful. What a nice thing you did for those who might not be the

best cookie bakers.

Can't wait to hear about all the cookies!
