Thanks to GayR and Steve in LA: I made the Orange Drop cookies (actually found miniolas)

and my friend in CA said they are very similar to the Pittsburgh version. Sadly, no comment from the husband who requested the cookie, so I can't be sure how close it came to his memory.

I used a combo of Marzipan Mom's version and Steve's, basing my selection on similarity in appearance. However, I didn't use Steve's method of grinding up the whole orange (minus the pith) which i will definitely do next time.

We and the library staff here (who received the rest of the batch) enjoyed them. Thank you again!

I did. If you can hold on for a while, Sandy and I are trading ideas 3,000 miles apart.

I'm definitely going to use the ground-up orange next time...and might try roasting it first.

I'll be away next week but will be trying out another combined recipe soon. This is SO different for me. I never make drop cookies and I rarely make cookies without some form of chocolate.

What's happening to me?????
