thanks to you all. I'm thinking to make some kind of Salvadoran Rice Pudding....

thanks to you all. I'm thinking to make some kind of Salvadoran Rice Pudding....

maybe by replacing the water with coconut milk? Or I might just try to find a recipe...

Oh that's right!! I forgot you-all are so lucky to have Central Market...

Let me know how you like the kheer -- I could eat the entire recipe myself in ONE sitting smileys/smile.gif

You may want to call to see if

Whole Foods has the orange flower water now. I think I saw both rose and orange flower waters at either Whole Foods or Food Source recently.

REC: Kheer

I played with this after seeing several recipes from Indian websites, then getting a favorite recipe from my friend. This is what I came up with. If you like it a bit thinner, you can always add a bit more milk at the end. It's very forgiving. The key is the wonderful cardomon seed (not ground - seed!)
p.s. if you have any trouble finding the cardomon seed, let me know and I'll send you some. I get it cheap from my local Indian market.

Cheezz, would you please share your recipe for kheer. It is a

favorite of mine when I go to Indian Restaurants, but I haven't had much luck making it myself at home.

Thanks, Cheezz. Looks delish! I'll try it this weekend. I'm eager to make a T&T.

One of the recipes I tried from an Indian cookbook I have called for 1/2 gallon of milk. I had to cook it forever, and it was so not worth it.

I'm glad you mentioned to use basmati rice. I've been trying out different kinds of rice, but hadn't hit on the right one yet. Thanks for the offer to send cardamon pods, but I have an Indian store close to where I work and can get some there. Also, (I'm so lucky) we have a Central Market close by, and you can find just about everything there.

I'll let you know how it turns out.
