on March 29th. I am trying to come up with a menu for that day. I want to do an Altered Food Menu to follow with the theme. Any ideas? For instance I saw a recipe for Sausage and Biscuit Casserole and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bars (contains no raw eggs). We will be open from 9am to 6pm. Thanks!

Deconstructed Banana Cream Pie? Pudding cup w/ banana chunk w/ cookie

crust. Cookie is made from cutting out the rolled pie crust with cookie cutter. Sprinkle with eggyolk and sugar and bake.

Portion vanilla (or banana) custard in 4 oz clear plastic cup. When order is placed, add sliced bananas, small dollop of whipped cream and a "cookie" piece of crust.

I'm stuck on the banana part...it would turn brown unless you sliced pieces per order.

Cup concept would work for any pie variation.

Love the look of the cake; makes me smile : ) I have seen sushi "rolls" made out of bread...

I have never made them, but you flatten the bread w/ a rolling pin, and fill like it is a "roll" w/ chopped carrots; cucs, crab; etc use wasabi mayo and roll up tight. let sit overnight and slice like a sushi roll.

And I am still pushing for someone to try the rec posted by magnolia. Beet and Goat Cheese Jewels

I am going to make these, but need an occasion; and unfortunately, my mom does not like goat cheese; so easter is out. She takes it as a complete insult if I make something w/ goat cheese, knowing that she can't / won't taste it. SOOO, mothers day is also out. Thinking spring tea!

Oh! I was not sure what Altered Art was. I was thinking that the food had a different "surprise"

from what expected. ie salad not in a bowl, but in layers.... Or beets not in slices, but in layers... Or sushi not made w/ rice, but bread...

I understand your definition. Now, I am wondering what would be on display at an art show. Hhmmm

Love, love, love places like this! This is not at all what I thought of, when you said you were

serving at an antique store. What a fun place to sell and showcase your goodies. You must be inspired by the creative vendors on how they showcase and create their items.

I have always been happy and proud for you w. the opportunity; now I am excited for you! (If that makes any sense!) Really cool!!! You can be creative!
What a great "Antique Store!"

It is such a fun place to work.

Upstairs there is another company owned by the owner that does marketing. They put on flower shows, antique shows, etc. They come out and eat lunch everyday I am there. The owner treats me so well. In exchange for renting the kitchen and dining area, I cater events for him. Like the vendor xmas party. It works out great for all involved. I lucked into this opportunity and am thankful for it. I quit the Farmer's Market this year so I can concentrate on the cafe. In San Diego, the weather was nice and it was year round. Here the market goes from April through October. And the weather, well it is Missouri. I am looking forward to concentrating on the cafe. It is like a big family and everyone wants to help each other. It's not even like a job. LOL! Thanks for the nice comments you made. I appreciate it.

you sound happy. settling in finally to life in MO! If I remember corrrectly, it's been a challenge

so nice to see things work out for us!
