This makes 112 cookies, but I cut it down to 1/4 the recipe. There are TO DIE FOR!

You MUST watch closely, even 1 minute too long in the oven will make them hard. They're still great that way (I know, I let one batch go too long in the oven. I didn't use chopped nuts, I wouldn't have liked that.

This recipe calls for blended oats, I didn't know what that meant, so I put the oats in the food processor, and that evidently was what it meant, because it worked perfectly. Just process the oats until they are very finely blended into almost a flour. I don't think it matters if they are quick oats or not.

I used one of these graters for the Hershey bar: http://www.cookware.com/Cuisinox-GRA3200-CNX1210.html

I think it really made a difference that I grated the Hershey bar so fine.

1/4 Recipe

1/2 C butter

1/2 C sugar

1/2 C brown sugar

1 egg

1/2 t vanilla

1 C flour

1/2 C blended oatmeal (measure, then blend)

1/4 t salt

1/2 t baking powder

1/2 t baking soda

6 oz choclate chips

2 oz grated Hershey Bar

3/3 C chopped nuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 375°F for 15 minutes before you're ready to bake these cookies.

Everything goes into the same mixing bowl, then mix. When almost "creamy and smooth" refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, then bake about 10 minutes (watch carefully) at 375°F.

Makes about 25 to 30 Cookies

Kendall, these are fabulous cookies. I got the recipe in the early 80's and have

been making them ever since. When I need a lot of cookies I make the whole recipe and then break it into 1/3's or 1/4's and make different flavors. Like white chocolate and macadamia or milk chocolate and almond or peanuts and M&M's. They're all good!
