The fella's here at work made a trash can turkey a few weeks ago and I begged to save the carcass

It's been sitting in the freezer till I was reminded of it, by them, yesterday. I took it home and made a huge pot of stock and then this creamy "chicken" chili to bring in for them today for lunch. I bulked it up with a package of shell pasta and lots of hot sauce and jalapenos on the side smileys/smile.gif They are awful glad now that we saved that carcass.http://www.finerkitchens.com/swap/forum19/47_Creamy_Chicken_Chili

We work on an air force base with radar mechanics and engineers types. they take a metal trash can

and flip it over so the turkey(on a specially made stand like a beer butt chicken stand) is sitting inside the trash can on the base and drip pan and then they surround the outside of the can with charcoal and some on top so the flipped over trash can becomes an outdoor oven, of sorts. It worked quite well. I think they have pics, so I'll try to post. they tried to make one last winter, but it was too darn cold out and this time they redeemed themselves.

Oooh Ang, I would love to see pics of this. It sounds intriguing and

something I could get my husband and son-in-law to try. Thanks!

AngAK, I was curious and googled and came up with many sites on how to roast and pictures. ....<

Interesting. Thank you for posting.

guys love this. It's a good way to get them to make the turkey, and out of the kitchen too.
