The GBH got ebay'd!

Got into work today expecting to drive the GBH over to my doctor's office and it was gone! I had left work at noon on Friday and the TFT coordinator knew to enter Dr. S's bid of $150.

Bids was stalled at $110, so D wrote in Dr. S's $150 bid at 1:55 pm.

An employee hung out around the sign-up table, waited until 1:59 pm and then added $10 to that bid.

So the final bid was $160. Between the angel from here (you know who you are!) who sent $200, our coordinator was able to buy more bikes and a big old bag of toys. I'll post a picture of the mass-o'bikes when I get it.

Final numbers for this year (amazing, considering the economy and job losses):

400 bikes, 400 helmets (donated by the Orlando Police department) and over $5,000 in toys, for total donations of over $39,000!

I love the TFT coordinator's tagline:

We make a living by what we get;
We make a life by what we give.

(Mar's Note): The 4th picture is a group of 8 bikes under a tree. It's my yearly donation: one bike for each kid in my family. Here are the responses I got from my siblings when I shared this photo with them (there was a second blowup photo of the bike tags with Kid #smileys/bigeyes.gif

FYI: Kids from oldest to youngest: Frank, Joan (deceased), Marilyn, Jim, Lynda, Karen, Paul, Sarah
Mom-ism: “I had a boy, girl, girl, boy, girl, girl, boy, girl.”

Why is mine a boy bike??? I'm a girl - tell them to make it Pink!!!!! Boy, girl, girl, boy, girl, GIRL, boy, girl. I want pink, I want pink...

Let’s see. If you count over five bikes, one, two, three, four five...yes! It’s a reddish pink bike, a girl bike...for a girl! Life is good! I think Kid #7 will switch. I don’t think he wants white tires with baby blue rims. Just thinking...

I'm sure this will make it a Merry Christmas for some lucky kids! Especially the little boy who chooses bike # 7 with the baby blue rims...boys are comfortable with that look down here in FL!

Wonderful idea and thanks for keeping the family together for the holiday -

Love you all!
