The Kitchen cooking show always has very interesting and fun stuff to watch on Saturday mornings

Today Geoffrey Zakarian put a tortilla into a coffee mug, standing on its side. He then put the coffee mug in the microwave, laying on its side and zapped for 1 1/2 minutes. Then he made a taco. The taco was crispy.

I had to try it. I used a corn tortilla....my first one was over crisped, second one at 1 minute came out perfectly crisp. In the meantime I heated a can of re-fried beans, mixed with chili peppers, taco sauce and garlic powder. I put a lettuce leaf in the taco, then the beans, then shredded cheese and topped with halved cherry tomatoes. I had lunch in no time and a crispy taco.

Granted, the taco was not as perfect as when it is fried in vegetable oil, but it was quick, no mess and tasted great. Great idea. Trying a flour tortilla next time to see if it holds up to the filling.

Haven't watched it yet, but it is on my Tivo waiting for me....

.... love the show!

Geoffrey is the best, but I have a soft spot for Marcela too

and the more I watch the more I laugh with the goofy sandwich king smileys/wink.gif

Sally, at first I did not like Jeff. I thought he was very silly. Now I am very fond of him

he is naturally goofy, and quite brilliant in his wit, especially coming up with made up words that fit the situation. I have also seen how the rest of the cast admire him. I like how he speaks of his family. I have a grandson who is a big tall guy like Jeff and is a great deal like him. Goofy kid, and very lovable, his friends and family love him a lot.

You probably know this but he was a contestant on The Next

Food Network Star. Didn't win--his schtick was sandwiches--made everything into sandwiches.

Speaking of which, did the last winner ever have shows air? They usually start a week after

the Food Network Star ends but I missed it if he had one. Kind of a silly guy called the Gourmet Cowboy or something like that.
