*Smoked salmon and asparagus in puff pastry (think I posted this last week and haven't been able to get to it yet!)

*another tomato tart, it was soo good

*chicken breasts in beer and grainy mustard from CL

*squish potatoes and pear salad to go with chicken above

*blackberry cobbler

*i have tons of raspberry puree that needs to be turned into jam

*last tray of oven dried tomatoes for the summer

There is always more but not a snowballs chance I will even get this list done, LOL!!!

I bought a peck of heirloom beefsteak tomatoes at the farmer's market and...

I'm making the wonderful homemade catsup recipe in the back of the old "Joy of Cooking" which I haven't made in years because I've never had enough tomatoes. Every time I use catsup I think about it and what I'm missing. So I shall have about 10 half pints put up later today!!!

Note: if you're interested in this recipe, to the spices listed, I add 1/2 cup raw honey, 1 tbls each of worcestershire sauce, celery seed, white peppercorns, Penzeys pickling spice, and dill seeds, a tsp. of mace, double the black peppercorns and allspice, and quadruple the garlic. The result is a very spicy "adult" catsup. smileys/smile.gif

After that, I haven't even thought about it although I have invited a friend for dinner so I need to start! smileys/smile.gif Although she's on Atkins induction so I can grill a steak and serve it with a side of salad and she'll be happy.

HI Barbara, what a list! FYI... Last year, I also had lots of puree and honestly

ran out of time / energy to make all of the jam. The puree froze beautifully. I defrosted and made jam a month later, when my schedule calmed down.

Right now I'm making the $4 sauce and a blank lentil dal and

peeling peaches to try and fix my soupy jam and then I'm going to use some of the GF lemon cookie batter (with added flour) for a tart base to be topped with more peaches plus I'm making videlia confit (which seems like nothing more than caramelized onions?).

Garlic oil and mushroom broth are done. Adding tomatoes now.

That's quite the list!

I'm trying a recipe for a cumin, chile and Sichuan-pepper laced lamb noodle soup this weekend. FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!

Will let you know how it turns out smileys/smile.gif

Everyone's lists are making me panic a little. I should probably be making and freezing sauces, etc.

for winter (or at least December)... But I have a hard time doing that when it's 85 degrees outside. smileys/frown.gif

I made breakfast by heating up pain au chocolat and making espresso and fruit salad... Does that count?

Marc, totally on the Sichuan wavelength with you...

This week I did a fabu pork in spicy black bean garlic sauce with five spice powder that I have to say is, to this date, the best Chinese dish that has come out of my kitchen.

I just got two of Fuchsia Dunlop's books out of the library, Shark's Fin and Sichuan Pepper, and Land of Plenty/Sichuan cookery, and I'm chomping at the bit to dive in to this wonderfulness!

Thanks for the recommendation!

of course it does. To each one's own, in one's due time...

Just finished pulling out a baked chicken four cheese ratatouille out of the oven (totally made it up as I was doing it--layers of chopped sauteed chicken breast, fried eggplant, red peppers, yellow summer squash, fresh basil, oregano, thyme, and rosemary, layered with tomato sauce, and garlic, with asiago, smoked gouda, parmigiano reggiano, and gruyere). I'm serving that with a platter of sliced heirloom beefsteak tomatoes sprinkled with French sea salt, basil leaves, and fresly crushed black tellicherry peppercorns with a mound of mashed avocado in the center garnished with a basil bouquet. Very ripe custardy paw-paws for dessert.

It's sitting out on the kitchen counter awaiting company. Drinks and we're set.

I have been knocking on the door!! HELLO!!!?? (What a great menu!)

and a special treat for your friends! : )

Up for some Fish Tacos? (I think that is worth another trip to NYC!!)

my sister(Indiana) sent me a flat rate box full of garden produce:beans, cukes, jalapenos, cherry tomat

tomatoes---all came in perfect condition---wrapping in newspaper is the key. I made a quick cuke salad with one cuke, then some steamed beans for dinnner. the rest of the cukes went into a refrigerator bread and butter pickle recipe. I want to can salsa for the first time and use her jalapenos, but I need to find some reasonably priced tomatoes. hopefully they'll be on sale this week in the stores---can't afford the farmer's market babies for salsa. I hope to get a jar or 2 of dilly beans canned with the rest of the beans, and I need to do it in the next few days. ran out of weekend time(barbara, I sewed a schlep bag and baby kuspuk(Alaska Native jacket) with bear kuspuk to match for a baby shower next Saturday. there went my Sunday)
