This is a fabulous cranberry recipe , however....

need to find out why I must thicken it with arrowroot every year.

The only identification I have on this is the name Sara Blanchard.

1 12 oz bag cranberries

1 1/2 cup fruity red wine, such as merlot

1 1/4 cup brown sugar

zest and juice of 1 orange

1 tsp. each of allspice and cinnamon

1/3 cup crystallized Ginger/4 cup cloves

Mix it up and boil, then simmer for about 20 minutes.

Serves 8 to 10

 
I think 1 cup of wine is sufficient. I have a good one from here (can't find it, but I'll look)

It's a merlot and works perfectly.

 
that's what I thought---it would really overwhelm the other flavors. but, then, I don't care for

candied ginger to begin with. tastes soapy to me.
