Hmm, obviously I goofed something up with the front page magazine (Southern Living) picture -- click on it to increase its size. I'll keep fiddling around to see what needs to be done to eliminate that step. First time I've tried using photobucket; please be patient! (My scan gives a pretty picture of a cut-away of the cake complete with a plated slice. The photo that accompanies the recipe only shows the UN-cut cake.)

Looks lovely, wigs. And that's a great combo. I just made a vanilla cake with

strawberry/peach filling and a good trick I found was to pipe a ring of the icing to "dam" the softer filling and keep it from oozing out into my icing.

I hope your fresh strawberries are worth the effort. If not, those freeze-dried one are great for flavor, but you can't get that fresh strawberry look from them.

THANKS! And how in the world did you do that, i.e., get a larger image on the 1st click??

Excellent tips....I'll definitely try the piped .

Whoops....hit 'enter' too soon.....I'll definitely use your piping trick to "dam" up the filling. Thanks so much for the suggestions! Wigs
