This is so dumb even I can't believe it. Decided to make an old cookie recipe

of my mom's. Coconut Gingeroons. Delicious cookie, by the way. I used my new KA mixer. Tried to take the bowl off to chill the dough and it will not come off!. Worked on it for 20 min (even hit it with my rolling pin) but it still wouldn't loosen. There was no food underneath and it was put on evenly. Finally called customer service and they told me they're making the bowl of the new KA's "just a little tighter"(May be the understatement of the month)

She said to put a little mineral oil under the bowl. All well and good, said I, but how do I get the bowl off to put the oil on. She said TO TAKE IT TO AN AUTHORIZED REPAIR CENTER!!! It is now sitting on my back porch in the hope that the cold will contract it a bit. Just tried it, after an hour, and no go.

Any suggestions?

Oh my...I so wish wish that the situation resolves very soon...

because I'm assuming that taking it to a ARC is a 'tad inconvenient'smileys/smile.gif

Mr. Scimio's 9th grade science: Heat expands and cold contracts metals.

Put about 2" of ice, salt & water in the bowl.

Warm a wet tea-towel in the microwave and wrap it around the base holding the bowl...so it doesn't contract along with the bowl.

Making sure of the direction (I only say this because I forget every time I go to remove my bowl whether it's clockwise or counterclockwise), pad the bowl handle with a teatowel and whack it (gently) with a hammer, rubber mallet, or rolling pin in the "removal" direction.

I'd also dribble some mineral oil or something to aid in slippiness...

Rubber Mallet! Must have kitchen tool....

my work bowl on my food processor has gotten to where it sticks. I hit it with everything. Turned it every direction trying to get a good grip and hit. Raided DH tool box and got the small rubber mallet. It's not leaving my kitchen now - can't tell you how many things it helps on without hurting.

LOL! a favorite bridal shower gift is to put together a kitchen tool/helps basket. must include

the mallet next time---it will surely make them wonder!

I'm not giving up my 10-yr old, 4 1/2 qt plain ole white KA for nuttin'!!!

They just don't make 'em like they used to.

I keep admiring the pretty new colors, and am seduced by the lure of a bigger bowl and more power, but I've tried those newer ones, and those bowls ARE hard to get off!!

Please don't tell me it was that easy....{sitting here abashed}

I can never remember which way to turn my mixer, my Cuisinart food processor, and my small Oster food processor.

I'm checking all three this weekend and marking a directional arrow with a Sharpie on all of them.
