This is the garlic spears I was talking about has anyone used

People wait for these to appear at the Farmer's Market. Their season is very short

and they go quickly. Aren't they called garlic ramps? I think I bought some once, but was not impressed, so I must have not cooked them right. I saw them again this year for about two weeks, and did not buy any. But people were lined up to get them.

 
We grow garlic and cook the scapes (the skinny part just under the spear-tops)

You really must get them young or they get tough. You can stir fry the stalk (scape) along with other veg and they are great. First ate these on a trip to China several years ago. When we asked what they were they told us "garlic" through the translator and we were quite puzzled until we got home and grew our own garlic. Then we figured out what they were!
