This mortal flesh is so weak. Just ordered 3 pounds of fresh hazelnuts from Oregon.

Pierre and I have been discussing what we'll make first. He whispers to me in the dark about hazelnut dacquoise and gianduja mousse. I counter with dark chocolate inverted puff pastry layered with pastry cream studded with candied oranges (his idea, of course).

Then there are those hazelnut pancakes I make with caramelized apples and sweetened yogurt.

(Sigh) ...and I have a cholesterol/weight check-up in 2 weeks.

Website is $10 a pound. She charged me $9 since I wasn't using Paypal.

And she said if I liked them and wanted to buy by bulk (5 lbs) the price would be lower.

She keeps them in cold storage and only cracks them as the orders comes in.

 
Well, I certainy wouldn't want to crack them myself. But I just bought local walnuts for 80 cents/

per lb. So I guess I will be using recipes w/ walnuts. Earl (my husband) & I walk a lot and collect pecans for nutthing.
