RECIPE: This was a hit last night. Rec: Alton Brown's Swiss Steak

RECIPE:
thanks barb. I'll be keeping this in mind for some moose steaks---we have company coming

for 2 weeks, Bill's cousin and family, and he wants to have at least 1 moose dinner. I'm a bit tired of the stroganoff we usually make and this sounds a bit more "summery". thanks. the teenage daughter will have hotdogs. we won't tell her they are reindeer, heehee. well, maybe we will. already warned she is a picky eater, and I have so very little patience for that.

Maybe a big salad with the chic nuggets as the protein?

Oh, I have empathy to your having little patience with the picky eater...

We have a twelve year old granddaughter, who at eight years old declared she was vegetarian and would not eat anything from or produced by an animal that was killed for food. Our meat eating family (both sides) were stymied. Now that she is older, she is also reading labels and more educated where food comes from. She discovered that Pink Fluff has strawberry jello in it and will not touch it. While we love her to pieces and respect the decision she made, it is sometimes difficult to wrap my brain around having to be sure that there are plenty of vegetarian choices for her, even then, we are limited to what she likes. But with her mom's suggestions for short cuts, we are learning to relax about it.

I think I would have more patience if it was vegetarian or GF. not coco pebbles and chic nuggets

Ang, why not have Miss Picky Eater help you make a dish? I converted my little

"NO GREEN!" niece by asking her to help me make zucchini bread. We didn't peel the zucchini and it turned out delicious. She was so proud when everyone complemented it, even with those flecks of greens all over the place.

yes, I plan on it. I think the first rivernight dinner will be taco night---lots of things she can

help with. also Richard's key lime dip and cutting lettuce and greens from the garden. I hope she catches a salmon. now that would be great
