I never heard of it. She was visiting her sister. Upon arrival, her sister gathered the vegies; through them in the blender, put it on "soup" setting and "7 minutes later" they had a thai carrot soup at perfect temperature. I am a lil amazed by it. I can't rationalize, and would not be able to justify it. VM users have been doing this for yrs - though this looks like it uses a heater instead of rotation
I dunno, kinda seems like something that would break -- though I do have one that is specifically made for sauces with a heating element I make curd in, but I only use it for that and got it before I had the VM.
Personally, I'd just get a VM and it would do it all. I've never regretted the big $$$ purchase, only regretted I put if off for so long.
