Made half the recipe with minor adjustments:

I seemed to need more milk at the end to thin it out.

I cut the black pepper amount in half, but should have cut the cayenne in half instead. It was a bit bitey, but still enjoyable.

I didn't use as much salt. Added it at the end.

Definitely saute the raisins separate from the final almonds. My almonds mostly burnt by the time the raisins were done. Had I done them separately it would have worked fine.

I added the cilantro at the end because it just looked too monochromatic.

Mom opinion: "This is really good. And it's easy to chew."

Mission accomplished.
