Those of you in No. CA or others that may know....about Shasta Dam

Does anyone have knowledge as to why Shasta Dam is dumping all the water out of Shasta Dam that is coming in very fast with all this rain? Here we are in four years of drought, we are getting heavy rains and they have not lowered the releases....it is not even growing season in the valley.

It is difficult to get information, you can't just call someone, have to make an appointment with a PR person.

To generate electricity? It isn't "just" a reservoir, is it?

Yes, it generates electricity, as well. However, usually this time of year when we get rain

the flows down river are decreased a lot, so they can fill up the lake. It is 15 ft lower than it was last year at this time. Maybe the B of R knows something about El Nino they are not saying. Epic rain?

I'm guessing it's to try and save fish and wildlife (salmon especially)
