Anyone have links to the threads about foods to take to a friend. My neighbor has had knee surgery and I want to take in a couple of meals.

Thanks.

You are an angel

Marilyn, I knew that someone here would have the old thread. Thanks you. You are an angel.

Earnie, I can't PM, but here is how to view a block of 100 archived Gail's Swap posts

it sounds like you're close...maybe you're not adding the .html at the end?

Here are some steps:

When you use the FORUM search function, it returns a list of links to specific posts. Note the full address includes the block of 100 posts PLUS the actual post number PLUS .html at the very end.

All you have to do is remove the specific post number and slash mark and let the .html come after the archived "100 posts" range (45801-45900.html) to see that whole list of posts.

If you want to view another block of 100 archived posts, just change the range of numbers. For example. to get to all the posts around #44571, change the range to 44501-44600.html

Don't forget to add the .html at the end.

All the archives are in that format; if you have a printout of a recipe, look at the header or footer information and you'll see the full path.

Hi Marilyn, Can you please elaborate...I am totally ignorant with this...What I do is (m)

Go to the old gails link, type in what I am looking for. As an example, I typed in "Wine Tasting" or something like that, to see what threads there were....

Many times I found a thread that started with a question about "what are your favorite recipes for a wine tasting party"....Sounded great, when I would look at the responses, unless they specifically said "Wine tasting" in their resonse, I would have to copy and paste and do a new search.

As an example, I recall after searching for wine tasting...Many responses said, "You will LOVE these" or "These are the best" ....So, I had to do new searches using "These are the best" etc...To actually see what they had posted.

Is there a way around this??

Regards,
Barb

Okay, barb....I'll walk through what I did....and you can tell me if this is what you're trying

to do. At the old Foum Seek, I typed
"wine tasting", selected Gail's Recipe Swap, and received 91 responses.

Now from this point on, I can only open ONE LAYER into the thread responses, meaning I can click on any of the 91 responses, read it, and see the responses, BUT I can't click on the responses to open them. It defaults into the new Gail's Swap format. Epicurious did something when they changed to the new format and now the old archived links don't work as easy.

But we can play tricky.

Say you want to see the responses for this particular post:

55889. ISO: ideas for Wine Tasting party and breakfast..... MAE

I've pasted the entire address for this thread
http://63.123.232.200/HyperNews/get/archive_swap55801-55900/55889.html

If I wanted to open and read the response below that says: "These sound yummy I wonder", take note that it is the third response to the #1 response.

So I put my cursor right at the .html and add a /1/1/1 to the address (the slash key is with the ? key). This tells the system to go to 55889, then to the first answer, then go to the first response to that...and then finally open the first response to THAT.

All much quicker than it just took to read.

To see the response titled "This is another cheese app, but good", you would simply add a /3 AFTER the 55889 and before the .html. Like so....

archive_swap55801-55900/55889/3.html

Does that make sense?

So you can do a search and get your responses, click and read those, but you have to work a bit to read their respones.

Thanks Marilyn! I will give it a try! Thx for taking the time to provide such specific directions!
