Nan, I made this last night(cake only) and it was great. Sooo very easy.

I think it's my new "go to" cake for fast and easy and homemade. I made a few tweaks, of course. I added 1 tsp vanilla and 1 T instant coffee for flavor. Used 1.5 cups sugar and added 1 cup of chocolate chips and 1 cup of toasted chopped walnuts to the batter. Made 2 round cakes and glazed both with the ganache. Sprinkled leftover chopped walnuts on top of 1 cake, left the other plain. They were gobbled up in no time this morning. I am not fond of chocolate and fruit together(I know, heresy) so I did not use any fruit. The cake was fudgy and a bit heavy, like a cakey brownie. Next time I will add a bit of baking powder to the mix for more rise. The chips and nuts weighed it down too, but it was what I wanted. A fudgy nutty treat.
