To all our veteran men and women and to all the women who stayed behind

Yes...

I think I was the only one for miles that put out the flag. I didn't see another one out at all in my weekend travels.

When I first moved into this neighborhood nearly 30 years ago, nearly every home...

...flew the flag on major national holidays.

Mine was the only one in sight this weekend. It saddens me...

I know, but since we started flying ours on the appropriate days, other neighbors are doing the same

my husband would like to fly it all the time, but he forgets to bring it in, so he has limited himself to specific days.

I was gratified to see my Eritrean immigrant neighbors acquire an American flag last year.

They are out of the country, or I'm guessing I would've seen it fly yesterday.

We've always had a house until now and our flag was always

the only one out sadly. Now that we live in this very large condo we have two little flags that John puts out on either side of the entry walkway and I can't tell you how appreciative these very old veterans are. It means a lot to them and they always thank us.

I may have mentioned this several times before, but we

...have lived next door to this family for many years. The parents are first-generation immigrants, and they have a large number of children. Of the 8, only 3 are still at home, the youngest being 11.

We got to see a Christian Orthodox wedding and reception once when we got invited to the wedding of one of their daughters. It was very beautiful.

We exchange food often, and when they go back home for a visit (they happen to be gone now, in fact), we feed their kids a couple of times a week, just for fun.
