My Mum left us on Friday early morning.

What a wonderful, kind, loving, generous and wickedly humourous Mum she was.

It took 4 days to get to her, an eternity of traveling.

I spoke to her on the Wed.and she was very chipper if weak but by the time I got to her on Sunday evening she could barely make herself understood.

She was very aware though and made me understand she did not want to be moved to the hospice or anywhere.

So she stayed on at her sisters and I moved in onto the floor in the sitting room having undertaken the night shift.

On Thursday night things seemed different and I was blessed to be the one with her to the last. What a life changing experince this past week has been.

Wednesday we say farewell to a most gracious and loving lady.

These past few years I have been chatting to her on the phone more and more often and now as each day passes I find there is something I think that she would like to share and I cant give her a call....

I have her hand written cook books and intend to get them on a DVD so I can have them made into a book that includes pictures and anecdotes from her and other older family members...even think I'll add some of each of my own and these books I'll give to the younger generation.....

Cheers to a wonderful Mum

I'm so sorry to hear this, Joanie. You and your family are in our hearts. and thoughts.

What a wonderful memento to have her handwritten cookbooks. Such a treasure.

Joanie, what a privilege to be with your mom upon her passing. All the fantastic memories of times

shared will sustain you forever. Hugs!

Joanie, my thoughts are with you and your family.

Be sure to include some of her favorite songs on the dvd.

I am so sorry for your loss, the cook book you're planning will not only keep her..

memory very much alive but it will also bring joy to many. What a wonderful idea.
